The Town of Church Point Wastewater Plant is a counter-current aeration system and is designed to treat 0.80 million gallons per day. The average flow is 325,000 to 360,000 per day.
There are eleven (11) liftstations that pump wastewater to the plant. Liftstations require twice daily inspections, which includes weekends. The wastewater passes through different stages of treatment and flows out into Bayou Plaquemine.
Daily routines would include installation of new service and daily maintenance of existing lines.
The Town of Church Point Wastewater Department has three (3) employees with a combined 38 years of experience; Superintendent Keith LeJeune (16 years), and wastewater operators Felton Citizen (25 years) and David Adams (2 years).
All operators must be certified by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals. This requirement is achieved by attending classes and passing exams based on the degree of certification. Certification is maintained by continuing education classes.
