The responsibility and goal of the Town of Church Point Waterworks Department is to provide safe, pleasant, and adequate supply of water to all of our customers. The plant is responsible for water production, treatment and distribution. Average production is 500,000 gallons a day, with capability of 2,000,000 per day. Water is treated for hardness and our service extends to over 1,800 residents and businesses a month. The plant is monitored by an alarm system 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Waterworks Department is responsible for daily maintenance of the plant, repairing water leaks, water wells, and monthly reading of all meters receiving services. Special services to the town include installation and repair of electrical needs by City Hall, Parks and other departments. (Example, installation of a generator at the Police Station). Special services for the community include service and testing of all fire hydrants to ensure they are in perfect working order.
The Town of Church Point Waterworks Department has five (5) employees with a combined 20+ years of experience; the superintendent, senior operator, two operators and one clerical. Operators rotate weekend plant responsibilities and during the week on-call.
All operators must be certified by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals. This requirement is achieved by attending classes and passing exams based on the degree of certification. Certification is maintained by continuing education classes
